Windows Heap Dump File. A .hdmp file is a Windows Heap Dump file, it is a dump of an application's heap that crashed under Windows XP or later. These files may be sent to Microsoft as part of the crash report process provided by Windows.

Window Heap Dump Files are generated by Windows to allow the crash to be analysed and investigated. The .hdmp file contains an uncomprssed dump of the heap at the time of the crash. .hdmp files can be analysied using Microsoft Visual Studio or with Debugging tools for Windows (see links below).

Unless required to allow the cause of a crash to be analyzed these files may be safely deleted.
