Below is all the information we have available on file about the .bat (bat) file type.
A .bat file is a text file which contains a list of simple DOS commands. The file can be executed in a DOS environment, and the instructions on each line are executed in the order they are listed. Batch files can also be executed in any Microsoft Windows environment.
From Windows 2000 onwards, batch files whilst still supported, have been superseded by command files (.cmd).
Where this is available we would like to include file format information on .bat files, as well as information on how to view or open files of type .bat. If you know of any information which we have missed then please let us know.
